1st of December

Finally December is here. What I have been looking forward to it! Today mom and I were watching this year's calendar on the telly. It was about a boy called Booboo. It was a bit difficult to say if I liked it or not. Before we were watching some old calendar from before I was born. I especially liked the one about the cat Pelle with no tail. It is so sweet story and as I am very fond of cats I like it best. Mom has read the book about Pelle for me too.

One thing mom already has done is to decorate our place. She has put up new carpets; new Christmas flowers and has course all these little Yule Lads. She has also made some in wood. I tried to help her yesterday but she said I was mostly troubling her and she told me when I will be a bit older she will help me doing this kind of things. I wish I were older now!

My cousin Markus visited me the other day. He was reading for a test and asked dad to help him. I tried to help him too. Look at the latest picture in my gallery!

I really like the Yule Lads. You are so "artsy craftsy" LOL

I don't understand watching a calendar on t.v. tho. Help me with that please?

Oh... you probably do not have it in US?

I will give it a try to explain. Every year from 1st until 24th of December the TV is sending a story, split up in to 24th parts, usually 15 minutes each. It can be a well known fairytale, a theater, or a new made story for this purpose. Very often it has some kind of connection to Christmas.

To this program the TV is selling a Christmas calendar and the children are opening one window for each day was each window is connected to that day's part of the story.

This year it is about a boy whose mother is keeping a big secret: she was a great singer, a star, but she lost her voice when he was born. Now the little boy is trying to find a miracle so he can help his mom to get back her voice.

Last year it was a theater about dolls - like "the Muppet show"

This kind of Christmas Calendar has been sending on the TV for at least 40 years now. Every year is filled with discussions about: is it good, bad, is it better than last year. Which one has been the best ever and so on...?

That's interesting. We have Christmas Calendars where children open windows for each day, but nothing on T.V. like that. It would be fun if they did.

Do you call Santa Clause Santa or St. Nick, or Father Christmas or???

In Swedish: Jultomte, in Icelandic: Jólasveinar and for us it is Santa Clause and he looks like the american way of Santa.

We also have calendars in paper and some of them contains chocolate, where children opens a window every day. And as I have told you before the Icelandic children puts a shoe in the window from night of 11 of dec, when the Icelandic Yule Lads (jólasveinar) is coming down from the mountains.

It is really nice with TV-show as for me it is a kick off for Christmas :)

How is it for you, does Santa come on the 24th or 25th? Here it is 24th...

Santa comes Christmas Eve, which is the 24th of December. I wish we had some tradition like the Yule Lads in Iceland. We just have plain old Santa Clause..LOL
