Clever girl

Mom seems to get more tired for each day she says it is because of her belly. I can see her belly is enormous at the moment and I guess I would also be a bit tired if I had to carry around with such a balloon! Yesterday when we came home she lie down in the sofa and guess what, she fall asleep almost at once. I tried to wake her up many times as I missed her companionship. She did not make any notice. But you see I am a very clever little girl so I just went to the TV and put the load so high up I ever could. It was a success – mom woke up! She smiled at me and said I was very cleaver. Then we had a cinnamon bun and milk. Yummy!

This weekend my aunt is having a 40 years birthday party and we all were supposed to go there. We will not because of mom – she has some real trouble with her back so she has decided I and her will stay at home. The birthday party will be held in the riding hall in cowboy style. It would have been fun to see all wearing cowboy hats though. Mom has promised to make some cookies instead.

I wish you all a very nice weekend!

I am set 6 of March, but I have already got an enormous belly :-/ Everything is different this time - must be a boy? I am suffering with some real pain in my back and am seeing a physiotherapist, who gives me laser and massage twice a week. It helps me a little bit though. I am looking forward to the end of this :)

LOL...I'll bet. I was figuring you were about 6 months...so I was close.

Both my pregnancies were very different also. With my girl she rode very high and I got heartburn alot and my shoulders seem to hurt. With my son he sat right on my pelvis and I had to pee constantly!

Do you have names picked out?

By the way..the pic of Anna in her red dress is darling!

Thanks, she is adorable in this Christmas dress :)

Yes, we have the names picked out.

If it will be a boy we will follow the Icelandic old tradition of name giving. Every child in Iceland gets the fathers name in its last name: name+dottír (for daughter) or name+son. Therefore it means Anna Björk Benjaminsdottír is the daughter of Benjamin.

Benjamin’s last name is Markusson (as he is the son of Markus; Annas grand father) B's grandfather is Benjamin Markusson and his great grandfather is Markus Benjaminsson... and so on has it been for ages. So if it is a boy we will give him the name Markus.

By the way did you know Icelanders knows their relatives from the very beginning when the Norwegian Vikings came here 870? It’s amazing! They have a computer database build like a “flower” and when you type in Benjamin then click in the middle of this flower you will get whom of the first interpreter he is relative to.

If it will be a girl we will name her Karin Inga – Karin from my mom and Inga from B’s mother.

How interesting. I have wondered what the benjaminsdottir was. I was thinking it was a combination of names, but did not know you added son or daughter onto the end of names. Something new learned today and thank you for that. As for the geneology side of things I'm not sure the US is able to trace it's relatives back so far because we all relocated from different countries.

Take care of yourself and that sweet little girl of yours.

One more thing about American history. Do you know anything about this?

In school I learnt Mr Christofer Columbus discovered America. Here in Iceland they insists it was the Viking Leifur Ericsson (also called "Eric the Red" and "Leif the Lucky") who discovered a land in west he named "Wineland".

In the Icelandic "saga" (history saved from its original written text) it is written about his trip in the year 1000 and what I am aware of Christofer Columbus did not discover America until 1492?

Maria, there is alot of dispute as to who really discovered America. I'm not sure who's right. I think everyone writes their history as they want it to read. Records were so scarse back then, plus maps and sailing were by stars not pictures and computers like we have today. I do remember something about Leif Erickson(?) discovering America. Sorry I could not be of more assitance on that one. I'm sure the net would provide lost of pros and cons on that one!

Right you are. Probably lots of people wants to take the glory of being the one discovering America. :)
