Thursday 27. September

Traditions tells us about Yellow pie soup served with pancakes and punsch (swedish liquire) But do you know the story behind it and that one of our Swedish kings were killed by a poisoned yellow pie soup?

Yellow pies has been growing by humans since the stone age. In Alvastra in the comunity Östergötland it has been found from the early midle time and signs tells it had a major part in the feeding plans.

Thursday traditions is located from the catholics when Wednesdays and Fridays should contain as little meat as possible, why it was served a heavy meal on Thursdays. The tradition of serving "punsch" to the soup is located back in the 18th's century.

And the son of King Gustav Wasa - Eric the XIV - was killed by a poisoned soup.

Wednesday 26.September

Nothing has happened since last week. I am not that surprised as last weekend contain a little bit of too much unhealthy stuff. Though it's good to know I can go over the limit and still not gain any weight.

This morning I prepared yellow beans so it will be served yellow pie soup tomorrow night - just like Thursday traditions says. We haven't had it for a while and you bet I am looking forward to some soup, punsch and pancakes :)

Last night I served black beans and sausage pot dish filled with plenty of vegetables. All was served with dinkel pasta. Yummy :)

And guess what!! Yesterday one of my friends told me she has started to give massage. She is learning at school for massage and has now reached the level for practise on people. Do I have to tell you I am looking forward to next Monday?!?!

Tuesday 25.September

My neighbour gave me one great salmon the other day. I made something really tasty out of it I really recommend. The fish I put inot the owen without any spices. You will get a clean fish taste and combined with this sauce you do not need any further seasoning on the salmon.

Mushroom and tarragon sauce:
Onion
Mushrom
Mustard, 1 tbl spoon (skånsk; barley mustard)
Fish stock, 3 dl
Milk 3 dl
Wheat, 1 tbl spoon

I served it with rice.

Yesterday I went to a body check out for colestrole, iron, and all kinds of blood tests. Everything was in top order and the doctor said she hasn't met any with such a good results. I told her about last years diet and food change. And today I am so proud of me taking this decision one year ago. Of course it has been hard times though it gives me much more benefits and I am feeling so much better than ever.

Tomorrow is weight day.

Monday 24. September

Old traditional Icelandic dinner. I know it will definately not be categoriezed as low fat neither GI and would definately not be any top list for healthy food. While sometimes - read very seldom - I am longing for this kind of food. I served it at home last night. And gosh it tasted good. Though I must admit my body did complain an hour after. Lucky me I am not having this kind of dinner every day. What it is. Ok, have in you mind hard smoked horse-sausage with up to 32% fat. Serve that with potatoes and some kind of white becamel sauce though you season it with salt, white pepper and sugar. And it might feel a bit strange with sugar but I can tell you the sweet taste combinated with this strong smoked and fat sausage it is delicious. I didn't bother to try my weigth this morning as I knew/felt last nights dinner would make a peak.

I was working all evening in the kitchen and where I made some of this weeks lunches. I had got a box of crawl fish and I made a pie with less calories;

pie:
dinkel 4 dl
100 g butter
100 g skyr/kesella
linfrö

filling:
crawl-fish
aspargus
coconut-milk
cayenne, salt, red pepper and white peppar
spring-onions

I also baked one dinkel bread and you find it here.

Saturday 22. September

Saturday night and I am standing in the kitchen making pizza. It has become like a Saturday tradtion serving pizza. Tradtitions are always nice. I don't know what happened to this day suddenly it was evening and I hadn't done much of all plans I had in my mind. We were at a swedish crawl-fish party last night and when my youngest woke up at 06 this morning I must admit it was hard time. Though not too much to drink so after breakfast I was up and running though very tired.

My plan was to bake and to make a pie out of the crawl fish that was left. I hope it will not be distroyed until tomorrow.

I had hoped for a more less than this. It is a loss and I should be satisfied. Now I have only 1.5 kg left. And I can see the end of this trip. Finally

Revolution. I will proudly present I today fit into size 38. Crucial day I have been waiting my whole life for is finally here. I have been glimpsing at this skirt for ages and this morning I gave it a try. And it fit. No problem with buttons neither looking like a stuffed sausage. It is a great day! I think I will take a picture later on today.

Tomorrow is weight day.

Monday 17 September

Mountains surrounding Reykjavik is covered of snow and my car indicated 2 degrees outside. It is getting cold here in Iceland which is a little bit early. It felt more like early December than September. Weekend has been good and I am finally feeling much better. I guess I beat the virus without getting sick though I felt very strange all last week. I didn't have much of a plan for this weekend and it felt really nice to just soft and relax for once. Saturdays I went to Alafoss for buying some more wool. I intend to make a wool sweater for the little one. Actually I have recently done one and it was supposed for the youngest though I made a slight mistake and it fit my oldest one... shit happens while now I have got new design to follow I guess it will be much easer to fit into size.

My diet plan is working according to plan and if I'm calculating with a minus on Wednesday. *wish wish*

Last night I made pork chops with blue cheese and pears. To that I served potatoes baked in the Owen and a fresh salad. Try it, it was yummy!

Wednesday 12 September

I haven't been feeling very well lately. I guess the flue is on its way... though I am not that ill to be in bed. So tired in the evening and I am freezing like hell. Anyway, yesterday I went to fix my eyebrows. Gosh I am good looking now ;) My weight hasn't moved any and I assume it defends itself while it is suffering from taking care of viruses in body. I haven't been able to swim nether walk so I really hope to be well soon!

Monday 03 September
Why are weekends running too fast? It occurred to me - once again - it was already Monday. I have had a great weekend filled with good company on Saturday evening and a very interesting Sunday. It was interesting in that way I realized how amazing wilderness can be and how important it is to talk the language of the animal. I am referring to my stallion that has been outside with more or less no contact with human beings. M - the farmer - is the only one who has been taking care of him and he has done it such a matter without disturbing its natural behaviour. We went by the jeep out in the great field while M told us it might be some trouble, as my stallion has become the leader. He has made himself 4 youngsters to become his "butlers" and with these he has taken control over the other 30 stallions. A silence kept in the car and B put the trailer in front of the gate. M delegated us how to walk and how to do and it took him less than 5 minutes to arrange my stallion with his butlers apart from the others. M stopped and told us to stand completely still. I could hardly breathe. And you bet my eyes went bigger and bigger of the scenario when my stallions rises his neck and snorting telling one of his butler to check out the trailer. The youngest one climbs up in the trailer were Rodi my other horse is tied up. The young horse turns his neck just like he is telling my stallion all is ok. A few seconds later my stallion has climbed up. B and M have been standing still and now both of them runs to the trailer and closes the back door. B ties the stallion and when done the door opens again and the young horse is brought out from the trailer. I tell M I was relieved and he answers me just like it is the most normal thing to do: you have to speak the language of a horse... reminds me of the book the Horse whisper...

Saturday evening I had friends for dinner and we ate Tacos. As always I had one big bowl of meat left. My first thought was to put all in the freezer while on my way home I got the idea to make pirogue. So I did and of course I used dinkel:

10 dl of dinkel
5 dl of water
50 g yeast
1 table spoon of seed
1 table spoon of honey
1 tea spoon of salt

Mix all together and let it yeast for 60 minutes. Cut into 12 pieces and roll out the dough. Put meat - or what you preffer - and bake it for 20 minutes in 200 degrees owen.

About this blog
My name is Anna Maria and I am living in Reykjavik, Iceland, with B and our 2 girls AB and KI As long as I can remember I have been interested in food. During my life travel I have also understood the meaning of eating healthy though lately my weight has been a bit of a hazard.

After 2 pregnancies my body was not longer the one it used to be. And what else to do more than realize it will be hard work to reach it back again. 2006 I decided to start a new life by a diet plan and to blog about it. I guess it is easier to reach goals if talking about it. In my start I joined a weight club through Internet while during my travel I found a way that's working pretty well, without spending too much money. Actually it's not any difficult neither complicated way of living and eating. I am cooking a lot from the principles of GI - low sugar and fat with lots of vegetables. I have also decided NOT to stop living and if one day is filled with this little extra plan am not ruined.

It's good to have a plan though it is important to realize when it is time for a change. After my summer vacation I realized I needed extra support to be able to get my focus back again. Once again I have joined the same weight club. My hopes that you find this blog interesting and I would glad if you could comment in my Guestbook
